Vor dem Internationalen Freiwilligentag begrüßte Papst Franziskus mehr als 2000 Freiwillige der italienischen CIDSE-Mitgliedsorganisation Focsiv vor einem Publikum.
Papst Franziskus sagte zu den Freiwilligen: „solidarity with the poor is to think and act in terms of community and the priority of everyone’s life over the appropriation of property by some. Solidarity also means fighting the structural causes of poverty, inequality, lack of employment and housing, the denial of social and labor rights. Solidarity is a way to make history with the poor”, and dass “Die Hauptursache für Armut ist ein Wirtschaftssystem, das die Natur plündert".
Focsiv vergibt jährlich die Auszeichnung „internationaler Freiwilliger des Jahres„Und die Audienz beim Heiligen Vater ist Teil der Zeremonien. Focsiv vereint 65 italienische Entwicklungsorganisationen und mehr als 36,000 Mitglieder und Anhänger cverpflichtet zu Zusammenarbeit mit den Völkern dauert ebenfalls 3 Jahre. Das erste Jahr ist das sog. Süden, und Kampf gegen alle Formen von Armut und Ausschluss.
