Agro-Ecology in Action: Transforming food Systems
Agro-Ecology in Action: Transforming food Systems
In a world facing climate change, biodiversity loss, and increasing food insecurity, the way we produce food has never been more important. Agro-ecology offers a powerful alternative – one that restores ecosystems, strengths local food systems, and empowers farmers. By working with nature rather than against it, agro-ecology regenerates soils, conserves water, and increases resilience to climate shocks, all while ensuring sustainable livelihoods for their communities.
During this event, we will be joined by Souleymane Yougbare, technical director of CNABio, an association uniting 100 agro-ecological actors in Burkina Faso. They focus on developing ecological villages where soils are restored, trees are planted and agro-ecological vegetable gardens are started in schools.
We will also hear from Emmanuel Yap, Food and Land Policy Officer at CIDSE, with extensive hands-on experience in supporting farmers across the Philippines and Asia in their transition to agro-ecology.
Their insights from successful, on-the-ground programs will be complemented by perspectives from our university expert, providing both practical and academic viewpoints on the challenges and opportunities in agro-ecological transformation.
