    The CIDSE Secretariat, located in Brussels, is opening a Climate justice internship position for COP 29-30 (compensated) to support its Energy and Extractivism Policy Officer. 

    This experience will allow the intern to explore the work of an international secretariat based in Brussels, with a particular focus on the COP29, and COP30. This position will offer support the CIDSE Energy and Extractivism Officer in carrying out various tasks and projects of the Energy and Extractivism working group, which have synergies with other CIDSE working groups. 

    The position is full time from Monday to Friday to be performed in our premises. Remote collaboration is not an option. 

    Objectives and Tasks: administrative and policy support in preparing for the COP29 in Baku and COP30 in Belem.

    • Attend regular staff Policy Team meetings; 
    • Support in coordinating and setting up meetings and online calls with CIDSE members and international Catholic actors ahead of the COP29-30; 
    • Support in logistics, communication toward, note taking, and follow-up of coordination meetings with CIDSE members and partners from the Global South; 
    • Support with developing policy papers and briefs in line with the CIDSE COP29-30 Strategy; 
    • Support with the administration and management of key projects by following and monitoring implementation of various project tasks related to capacity development around COP29-30; 
    • Develop a stakeholder’s map of Catholic Actors for COP29-30 with guidance from the Energy and Extractivism Policy Officer; 
    • Support to the CIDSE communications team for COP29 Strategy (multimedia) related content. 

    Your profile and qualifications:

    • Education, interest, expertise, or experience in climate justice, ecological justice, energy transition, climate finance or related fields; 
    • Familiarity with or experience in faith-based environments and understanding and appreciation of CIDSE mission and values (social justice, integral ecology); 
    • Familiarity with or experience in network life and environments with multiple stakeholders; 
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; 
    • Excellent spoken and written English, second language an asset (French, Spanish, German); 
    • Good IT skills (Microsoft 365, ZOOM, Doodle…);  
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; 
    • Autonomy and initiative. 

    Timeline: 6 months (mid/end) August 2024 – (mid/end) February 2025.
